Kanchanburi, the past and the present

We have been to Kanchanburi a number of times and have visited most of the museums and have ridden the train so this time we wanted to do something different. Nevertheless, we paid a visit to the bridge, as I think it is a must even if you have been there a thousand times. We just went in the morning had a walk around and then headed outside town. avarcas menorquinas pons thailand
Lawa Cave
On our way to Lawa Cave we stopped for lunch at a restaurant by the road, we had some fish and vegetables and they were delicious.

Lawa Cave is the biggest cave in Kanchanaburi, it is on the side of Khwae Noi River, around 75km from Kanchanaburi City. It is not difficult to find but have to pay attention to the signs; we missed it and drove nearly 20 km too far.
It is a spacious cave full of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. The lighting is hidden but sufficient and it makes it a real cave experience. I would suggest to take a torch and, even, to hire one of the kids that offer their services as a guide. It is not that you can get lost but there are not so many visitors, we only met a couple on our way in and a small group in our way out, so it was a bit spooky, though I have to confess that I am a bit of a chicken. Having some extra company will help, plus the kids will explain about the cave and point out interesting spots.
Location: Tambon Wang Kra-chae, Amphoe Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi
Opening Hours: Daily from 08.00 am – 06.00 pm.

Pakprak Road

We also visited Pakprak Road, a 170 year old community full of history. Walking down this street you will be appreciate the beautiful old architecture. All the historical buildings have a yellow sign explaining their history. There are two beautiful cafés on this road, we made our stop at Sitthisang Coffee (open daily 8am-6pm, 034-514-514), it is housed in a colonial-style building with retro decoration. The cheesecake is to die for. Hua Hong Coffee(open daily 8am-6pm, 034-511-577) is another beautiful café decorated in Chinese style.

Dheva Mantra Resort and Spa
We stayed at the Dheva Mantra. The Dheva Mnatra is a colonial style resort set by the river in a lush tropical garden. The grounds are big and have a lot of paths, we even saw some people jogging in the mornings. It also has a beautiful lagoon-like infinity pool and a small playground for kids.It is a very peaceful and relaxing setting with lovely views. The rooms are nice and spacious and the staff is very friendly and attentive.
